Mahindra XUV700 | New Japanese 7-Seater Launched | Check details

While the Toyota Fortuner leads the premium 7-seater SUV market, the Mahindra XUV700 excels in the budget-friendly segment. Despite competition from models such as the Tata Safari and Toyota Innova Hycross, the XUV700 maintains a strong position. However, it is anticipated that the SUV will encounter significant competition from the forthcoming Japanese 7-seater, which is expected to be more economical. This refers to the impending launch of the Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater.

Maruti is unquestionably the leading automotive brand in India. The Grand Vitara, a premium SUV, has significantly contributed to the company’s success. Furthermore, Maruti is poised to enhance its offerings by launching a 7-seater variant of the Grand Vitara. This SUV has been seen on several occasions across India, and we now have thrilling information about its anticipated launch schedule.

Recently, Maruti announced its strategic plans for India in 2025. In this context, the company highlighted the upcoming launches of the e Vitara and additional SUVs. The e Vitara has already been displayed at Nexa showrooms, while the other SUV, which remains uncertain, is anticipated to be the Grand Vitara 7-seater. Maruti has indicated that this SUV is expected to be launched by the end of 2025. Upon its release, it will compete in a market segment that includes the Hyundai Alcazar and the forthcoming Kia 7-seater.

We have already observed the test models of the Grand Vitara 7-seater on Indian roads. Although they were fully camouflaged, the test vehicles disclosed several important features. For example, the headlamp configuration and front design appear to be influenced by the forthcoming e Vitara. Additionally, as a 7-seater, we anticipate that the SUV will possess a longer wheelbase compared to the existing 5-seater variant. The extended design was indeed noticeable on the test model. Furthermore, the rear profile seems entirely redesigned and may also draw inspiration from the e Vitara.

Regarding the interior, one of the spy photographs has disclosed the SUV’s interior. While the image lacks clarity, it reveals a new and larger touchscreen system. Additionally, the overall design of the dashboard appears to differ from that of any existing Maruti SUVs. Presently, the Grand Vitara is equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, along with an option for a strong hybrid. However, due to the increased weight, Maruti may introduce the new SUV with a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine featuring a strong hybrid option, similar to that of the Invicto.
