Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Gangotri Mukhba on February 27 to inaugurate the winter pilgrimage to Uttarakhand. During this visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Janaktal and Mulingana Pass trekking routes. It has been reported that the Janaktal trek will become the second-highest trekking route in the world, marking a significant advancement in the region’s winter tourism.

According to reports from TOI, the Janaktal trek is located at an altitude exceeding 17,000 feet. The 2-kilometer trail from Jadung to Janaktal traverses through picturesque mountains and valleys, culminating at an elevation of 17,716 feet above sea level. Similarly, the Mulingana trek is also positioned at an altitude above 17,000 feet.

In preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit, efforts are being made to enhance adventure tourism in pristine locations such as Nelong, Jadung, and Sonam Valley. A variety of events are scheduled, including a motorbike rally, an ATV-RTV rally, and two trekking expeditions, all of which will commence from Harsil.

The Indian Army will spearhead the motorbike-ATV-RTV rally from Harsil. A motorbike rally to Jadung will be organized under the auspices of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB). Additionally, a trekking expedition from Neelapani to Mulling La Base will be coordinated by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), along with another trekking initiative from Jadung to Janaktal.

As reported by India Today, local authorities view the Prime Minister’s visit to Harsil-Mukhba as a historic opportunity to enhance winter tourism in Uttarakhand. Local administration officials have made comprehensive arrangements for PM Modi’s visit, which includes a planned worship ceremony at the Ganga Temple in Mukhwa.

Before the event, officials conducted an inspection of the venue in Harsil to finalize logistical arrangements, which encompassed seating, traffic management, parking, electricity, and water supply. Additionally, discussions took place concerning the layout and organization of an exhibition that will feature local products and crafts from Uttarakhand, emphasizing the cultural and economic importance of the region.
